Custom mounts on Bear Island, Barents Sea

While the majority of our systems are used on construction sites to document the progress over time — years, in many cases — very few of those projects allow sharing of the pictures of the installation or the final video clips. Gathering and disseminating information is the goal of many research projects, so these teams are often permitted to share pictures. Thanks to Sergei and Hallvard for these!

Here is another example of the Cyclapse time-lapse camera system used in the polar regions. These cameras are installed on Bear Island, in the Barents Sea. This is north of Norway, near the Svalbard region.

These cameras were mounted on improvised stands. Some creativity is needed when you are working on a remote island with few provisions! Apparently last winter the winds moved a heavy wood cabin 20 meters, so we are all hoping the stands will survive!
